Mojang Retires Its Card Battle Game, Offers One More Year Of Playtime

Mojang means Minecraft. But that’s not the only thing the Microsoft-owned company is tinkering away at. Scrolls was an online card-based battle video game that’s available on PC, Mac, and tablets. The game is now at the end of its lifespan, with the developer announcing that it is ending development on the game. Stockalicious.Com doesn’t offer up a particular reason for the quiet ending however, we’ve contacted the developer to find out if there’s any reason at all the developer won a legal battle against Bethesda in the sense that it was able to name the game “Scrolls” in the first place, but was barred to not name sequels in the same way. Mojang promises that it’ll keep the servers up for another year, which means you’ll have twelve months to finish the latest update and levels, which were released only last month.

Update An Mojang spokesperson confirmed to us: “The launch of the “Scrolls” beta was huge success. Tens of thousands of players battled daily , and many are still playing today. Unfortunately, the game has reached a stage where it can no longer keep up with the pace of development.”
